Virgil Stahr In Progress

Here's the first page of my Virgil Stahr comic. It's unlettered and may need a little skootch more tweaking. I'm trying some new stuff here. What do you think?

I am super intrigued. I really want to see some words to explain.

But artistically it is amazing. Your linework is great and the characters are interesting but the colors have to be the most amazing part of the page. I LOOOOOOOVE them, when I saw the thumbnail I thought that they were screen grabs from an old cartoon. And I really like that. Please keep going and make the rest just as great.

oh yeahh.. the colors look pretty great on this monitor. the laptop must've made them look a little washed out on an angle, which was kinda cool, but this looks incredibly good. they come to life on the page.

Love the design on this. Looking forward to seeing the story (found your blog via Project Rooftop).

What you've done with the colored line work is very impressive to me. It sets tone, separates characters, and creates a visual intrigue that really puts it in a category of it's own. The designs are also very well thought-out.

When this hits the streets, people are going to want more Krall. You've found the good stuff, Danny. Keep it up.

I hope it's not weird that I'm commenting on your blog, but this is so awesome...I would buy it immediately. The colors and the line work and the character design and everything is really beautiful. Happiness.

yeah yeah I agree with all of this, brilliant.
the one thing I would change (and I'm just putting an idea out there)
It would be nice if the cosmic light show were more blendy and less chunky. you know what I'm saying?
it's really popping out there on the surface while the rest of the coloring is so subtle.
I love the title but I'd make it bigger. it could make a big impact. the think the size you have it here is a little understated. it's a whisper when it should be a shout. well maybe not a shout, but a more commanding voice.

This is looking really great! It's interesting to have seen it go from the design stage to the sketch stage and now to this. I think the colors definitely pull the whole thing together and work with the weird Victorian-Futuristic time warp theme. I agree with Brian about the title-- it could be bigger, and I think if it was it would help tie that panel in with the rest of the page. I wouldn't change the colors of that first panel, though, because when I look at it from a distance it leads well into the page. Anyway, it's looking really nice and I'm excited to see the whole thing.
And yeah, I have a portfolio page. How'd you find it? I had to put something up to appease my family. I didn't let you know about it because it's embarrassing!! Glad you like it though.
